Lots of people and organizations have stepped up to help nourish kids and families while school's out. Here are neighborhood options I'm aware of. Please email NBB with additional resources. Click here for Detroit Public School District's most up-to-date info.

Seniors Focus Hope delivers meals to home-bound low-income seniors 60 and older. Call 313-494-4600 8-4 Monday-Thursday & 8-12 Fridays to see if you qualify and to schedule delivery; they also offer drive-up service, please call if you're over 60.
Seniors can also request food assistance and friendly check-in calls at the MDHHS coronavirus web site.
Seniors 65+ can get a week's worth of groceries delivered by New Era Detroit. Call New Era at 313-466-4377 M-Th 9a-4p.


Pandemic EBT benefits Starting in May, families with K-12 children who were eligible for free or reduced-price school lunch will see an extra $193.80 per month per eligible student added to their card. Families who do not currently have an EBT card should have received one in the mail the first week of May.

Sunday evenings through Monday evenings pay what-you-can contact-free pick up from Beaverland Farm‘s blue market trailer at 15072 Beaverland St. A recommended price point will be listed but there is no payment required. Products are organized by bin and we ask everyone to touch only items they will take with them.
